Visitors to Slimbridge can see our adult cranes – all graduates of previous years’ Crane Schools at our Back from the Brink area at Slimbridge. Here you can learn about WWT’s role in the reintroduction of cranes and hear up to date news on how our young wild crane chicks are progressing at the new backstage Crane School. Visitors can also attend regular screenings of a film about the Great Crane Project ‘Crane Country’ in the cinema at Slimbridge. For details on exact timings of talks and cinema viewings, contact www.wwt.org.uk/slimbridge or telephone 01453 891900.
The Pensthorpe Cranery gives visitors the perfect vantage point to watch cranes displaying to each other and calling. Out on the reserve a wild male crane who was first seen on the reserve in June 2006 is seen regularly as he drops in to see our other Eurasian Cranes. This is always a spectacle as he sets all the other cranes off bugling when they see him and that’s what lets you know he is around.
For further details visit the Pensthorpe website.
