Sad news from WWT Slimbridge

Bad news from WWT Slimbridge on their Slimbridge Sightings twitter page

BABY CRANE UPDATE - Well some sad news to report this morning. Our Crane chick on the Rushy has not made it. Let's hope they do better next year.

Initial post mortem results on the baby Crane show underlying lung & kidney disease were the cause of death.

Two parents, one chick so far

Monty and Sedge are proving to be good parents with one chick already. They keep returning to egg number two so fingers crossed!  Keeping watching http://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/slimbridge/experience/webcam/

Monty & Chris' chick is getting big!

Monty with his chick - late May.

Monty and Chris, the pair of released cranes that have successfully nested at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire this year are currently very busy rearing a feisty young crane that will soon be 20 days old!  The young bird is one of two that hatched from Monty and Chris's clutch on 17th May.  Sadly, its sibling was taken by a fox at around 1 week old.

Fantastic News.... Monty and Chris are incubating!

We have some wonderful news to share.
