Artist required for Commission with Somerset Art Works and The Great Crane Project.

The Great Crane Art Project ‘Flying through Europe’ - Artist Commission  Thanks to a successful Arts Council application, SAW’s creative partnership with The Great Crane Project moves forward to an ambitious commission for 2013 with local, national and European project partners.  Shadowing the reintroduction of the Common Crane to the Somerset Levels, from egg collection in Germany, hatching at Slimbridge and release on the Levels, the artist will create work inspired by the project which will connect communities with this unique bird and its place in the Somerset Wetlands. Proposals are welcome from visual artists and makers working in any medium also including digital, multi media, sound, moving image, photography, and live art.Residency fee:  £4,000 Deadline for applications: Sunday 13 JanuaryDownload the brief: http://www.somersetartworks.org.uk/news/great-crane-art-project-artist-commission Somerset Art Works, The Town Hall, Langport, Somerset TA10 9PR01458 253800  [email protected]

Damon’s role is to act as the hub of the project - making sure everyone involved knows what is going on and that it is all running smoothly. He is also responsible for project community awareness work in Somerset, construction of the release enclosure, and running the post release monitoring work in Somerset.  Damon works alongside the RSPB reserve teams in Somerset.
