What is this?

Each crane has a unique combination of 3 coloured rings on their right leg. This marking code helps to identify the crane in the wild.

Character profile:

White Black  was one egg of a two egg clutch - where its sibling egg was left behind in the nest.  It was hatching on the journey back and has formed quite a stable group with White Green and White Yellow (Charlie).  June Upate:  The stable group is no more...  White Black seems to have taken exception to its neighbour, White Green with which it is often scrapping. It is quite boisterous and very vocal!  JULY UPDATE:  Sadly,  White Black White developed some severe bowing of its legs during the rearing phase, and for its own welfare, it was put down by the project vet on 1st July 2011.
