We have some great news to share.

Wiz, Pippa & Chick Oct 2018.

We have just discovered that a pair of cranes we thought had lost their chick back in the summer, have just been seen with a fully fledged youngster!

The pair - Wiz, a 2012 male (colour-ringed Black Yellow Blue and championed by Shepton Beauchamp Primary School) and Pippa, a 2011 female (colour-ringed Green Red White and championed by Burrow Hill Cider Brandy Company) have successfully bred near Muchelney on the Somerset Levels and Moors.

This is almost certainly the first time since the 17th Century since cranes have produced youngsters on the moors here - but a sight that would have been familiar to the inhabitants of Muchelney Abbey 'back in the day'

We will now have to revisit our data and re-jig  - but are very pleased to do so!
