The diggers are coming....

Spent a while this morning in the tractor, preparing the ground in readiness for contractors to start work creating a potential crane breeding zone at the heart of the West Sedgemoor RSPB reserve.

 The topper

The works will create a 1 acre isolated block of reed-fringed pools, small islands and deep wide ditches, which will  should provide a suitable, safe nesting location for a pair of cranes.

The topped zone... ready for the excavators....

More on this soon, when the digging work begins!
